Clear enough to read. Specific enough to trust.
This page describes how the current Waggie app handles account information, posts, uploaded media,
notifications, moderation data, and diagnostics. Last updated April 22, 2026.
No third-party ads. No tracking-based ad profile.
What Waggie collects
Waggie collects the information needed to create and operate a pet profile and the social features around it.
- Account data: email address for email/password sign-in, Sign in with Apple account identity, and internal account identifiers.
- Profile data: pet profile name, username, bio, and profile photo.
- User content: post text, comments, reactions, reports, and uploaded images.
- Social graph data: follows, blocks, and moderation/report relationships.
- Notification data: APNs device token for signed-in users who enable notifications.
- Diagnostics: crash reports and related device/app state through Firebase Crashlytics.
How we use that data
- To authenticate you and keep your account signed in.
- To create and display your pet profile, feed, search results, comments, and reactions.
- To upload and deliver profile photos and post images.
- To deliver optional notifications such as new followers and post activity.
- To enforce moderation, investigate reports, and protect the community.
- To diagnose crashes and improve the stability of the app.
What we do not do
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not use your data for third-party advertising.
- We do not build a cross-app ad profile from Waggie usage.
- We do not ask for precise location, contacts from your address book, or phone number for normal app use.
Service providers and infrastructure
Waggie currently relies on Firebase services to run the app. Depending on the feature you use, this includes
Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, and Firebase Crashlytics.
Those services help us authenticate accounts, store profile and feed data, deliver uploaded media, and monitor
crashes. The moderator console at /admin/ uses the same backend with moderator-only access controls.
Public vs private information
Profile handles, pet display names, bios, posts, comments, and reactions may be visible to other Waggie users
according to the app’s product behavior. Reports, moderation cases, and reviewer notes are not public and are
restricted to moderator workflows.
Retention and deletion
We keep account and content data for as long as it is needed to operate the service, comply with legal obligations,
resolve disputes, and enforce safety policies. If you want to request deletion, access, or correction of your data,
contact us at wag@waggie.app.
